Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says his side have only themselves to blame after crashing out of the FA Cup. https://imasdk.googleapis.com/js/core/bridge3.415.1_en.html#goog_1308230340https://imasdk.googleapis.com/js/core/bridge3.415.1_en.html#goog_1729440031about:blankabout:blank
For the third successive year, the German saw his side fall in the fourth round, defeated 3-2 at Anfield by steadily-improving West Brom.
Roberto Firmino gave Liverpool the lead, before Albion hit back with two Jay Rodriguez goals.
Firmino missed a penalty – given by VAR – but only after the video referee had ruled out a Craig Dawson header.
Joel Matip’s own goal on the stroke of half-time handed the Baggies a third, and while Mo Salah scored late on, the Reds exited the competition.

Ultimately VAR and its input on proceedings provided the major talking points on Merseyside, but Klopp believes his players must look at themselves, rather than pointing fingers elsewhere.
“It’s obvious what we did wrong in these situations,” he said.
“The second goal was just, wow, really bad defending from the whole group. That’s not how defending should be.
“We didn’t use the chance on the penalty and then their third goal must be off-side. What can you do?

“We had to show character in the second-half. We chased the game and maybe scored the second goal too late. When you start how we did you cannot play your best football game.
“They tried to save some time – which was normal – and in the end, West Brom deserve it because they scored three goals and we only scored two. They did well and fought with passion.
“But we have only ourselves to blame.”
West Brom boss Alan Pardew was delighted with his sides’ success, but wasn’t happy with VAR’s influence.https://tpc.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-37/html/container.html

“From the sideline, it was strange. It wasn’t what I’d like to see going forward,” Pardew told BT Sport.
“We were struggling at the end because we ran out of bodies and the VAR system was a problem because I think we got a player with a hamstring injury because they were standing around for too long.
“It was just weird. We waited so long to wait for the decisions, the stadium went flat and every goal was a bit of a mockery because we were waiting for the decision.”
